Frequently Asked Questions
We source ingredients from a combination of Canadian suppliers and carefully selected international partners when certain proteins are not available domestically. Each product clearly lists its country of origin.
This transparency allows pet parents to understand exactly where their pet’s food comes from.
Most of our ingredients are Canadian, and Canadian sourcing is a priority whenever possible. However, availability, sustainability, and quality always guide our sourcing decisions.
Some specialty products are imported, and this information is always disclosed.
We work with suppliers who follow responsible harvesting or farming practices and who align with our values around animal welfare and sustainability.
When sourcing wild-harvested ingredients, we prioritize suppliers who operate within regulated frameworks and contribute to long-term ecological balance.
Our seal ingredients are sourced from Inuit or Indigenous-affiliated suppliers who participate in DFO-regulated harvests. These suppliers are actively involved in discussions and collaboration with the DFO to help ensure harvesting policies reflect current science, sustainability goals, and respect for the animal.
This approach supports ethical harvesting, responsible population management, and economic participation within Indigenous communities.
Yes. We value partnerships with Indigenous and Inuit suppliers where applicable and believe these relationships are an important part of ethical, sustainable sourcing in Canada.
We prioritize whole-animal utilization wherever possible, using different parts of the animal across multiple products. This approach reduces waste and respects the value of the animal.
We are focused on reducing our own waste, but also that of human food supply chain, in that we use many parts of the animal that are not traditionally consumed by humans here in Canada - including many of the organs from various species, heads, necks, as well as skins. All of which still contain significant nutritional value, and consuming them also provides mental enrichment to our pets.
All raw proteins used in products we manufacture ourselves come from the human food supply chain, meaning they meet standards for human consumption at the sourcing level.
Some items, such as rabbit feet or hides, are not considered human-grade. We use the term carefully and only where it is accurate.
