Common Pet Ailments
At B&T Pets, we are driven by the belief that our pets' health and happiness are directly in our hands.
Throughout a pet's lifetime they may come down with a variety of different ailments, some chronic while others are quite acute, some are mild while others may be life threatening. Regardless of the aliment, as a pet owner, it is so difficult to see our pets in pain or feeling unwell - especially since they cannot tell us in words what is going on.

Pet nutrition, and a pet's overall diet, may be crucial in both the treatment of, and the prevention of, some common ailments that pets most commonly face. We will explore some of these ailments, and provide pet owners with information about the ailment, as well as the possible options in terms of nutritional changes or supplements which may help improve, treat, or prevent, the ailments.

Please note that it is always important to consult with your veterinarian prior to making any changes to your pet's diet; likewise it is important to seek the advice of you veterinarian when determining what may be wrong with your pet when they are in pain or feel unwell.
A low-fat diet helps reduce the workload on the pancreas, minimizing the production of digestive enzymes that can exacerbate inflammation - this is often referred to as "resting the gut".
Imagine the moment you’re reaching for your pup's favorite treat, only to replay your vet's diagnosis, “Unfortunately, your pet has a food allergy.” The mix of emotions return, we've been there - be it shock, sadness, frustration, and for us it was even guilt. You worry about inadvertently causing discomfort to your pet, and recall some of the symptoms of a food allergy from the past.
While lifespan refers to the number of years your pet lives, healthspan focuses on the quality of those years. It’s about ensuring that your fur-family remains active, vibrant, and free from chronic ailments as they age.
For us, it’s about honoring the bond we share with our pets and ensuring that, in every decision we make, we’re putting their well-being first—because they depend on us to make the right choices for them.
