CanadianSME Small Business Magazine Article

I was honoured to be interviewed by the CanadianSME Small Business Magazine recently. They have been serving small businesses in Canada for over 50 years, with a focus on highlighting growing businesses and thought leaders with an eye for innovation and growth.

In the article entitled From Corporate to Canine: A Pet Entrepreneur's Story, we delve into my journey from an 18 year career in the scientific research equipment industry, to founding B&T Pets in 2024. I also discussed finding our niche in a crowded marketplace, and remaining committed to sourcing our ingredients locally, and ensuring quality products.

Although only a small part of the article, I think one of the most important aspects is the involvement of my kids in the company, and my desire to impart an important life lesson on them, as early in life as possible - that is "that a typical 9-to-5 job isn't the only path to success, and that true achievement comes form within rather than from others' judgement."

My final thought and advice to other entrepreneurs is "share your enthusiasm for what you do - building relationships based on mutual support rather than just what others can do for you."
